Windows Live

I have nothing of Windows Live installed on my computer anymore. Do I need to keep these two items installed anymore. 1) Windows Live ID sign-in assistant 2) Windows Live update tool? If I don't need them I'd like to remove them.

Can I ask why you don't have Windows Live anymore? Here is more information on WL & Essentials features: Windows Live - Microsoft Windows.

If you aren't interested in using the tool you can remove both the sign-in assistant and the update tool.

I'm trying my best to rid my Win 7 of Live, too. What process did you go through? Did you have to edit the registry?

No go to contol panel, programs and features and then uninstall live essentials. Very easy. That is the official way.

Thanks - any "unofficial" actions to guarantee it's gone?

First TY for the rep.

The way I would do it is to use system restore. If there were not many changes to the OS. between the time that I installed Live and when I wanted to uninstall, using restore would guarantee that there were not any annoying remnants left.
