    32 vs 64 bit

I found this really good article online, hope it already hasn't been posted.

The Lifehacker Guide to 64-bit vs. 32-bit Operating Systems - 64-Bit - Lifehacker

It contains a lot of useful tips and pointers.

Interesting reading. One of the commenters below the article also did a very good job of summing up the history of our journey from 8-bit to 64-bit -- he really knew his stuff.

I'm finally running 64-bit Windows on both my laptop and my main desktop machine, and for the most part the transition has been a relatively painless one. And as far as my old apps/games and any software incompatibilities are concerned, DOSBox and VirtualBox to the rescue!

It feels so nice to have finally crossed over the 32-bit to 64-bit hurdle. Kind of reminds me of how we did a similar thing with Windows 95 (going from 16 to 32).

Now if only every single app we used was actually 64-bit...

(But then again, is that overkill?)
