I purchased "Windows Home Premium 64-bit" OEM for installation on a new PC, for only $ 158.00 CDN, including tax! (aproximately a week ago).

Its a McOS - designed to serve as many as possible, preferably billions and billions, within the confines of the production deadline and the Vista platform. So I'd bet their marketing focus groups including every age class.

There is something there for (almost) everyone and that's why the multi-tier price structure. M$ doesn't want any fish to slip through the net; including the big fat ones that will pay retail, and of course children, who exert enormous clout over parental purchasing power.

However, most kids seem to be more aware of consoles than OSs, so I doubt the product was functionally weighted towards youth.

When I compare Windows 7 to Vista, I can't help but wonder who the target audience was.

Windows 7 looks like it was designed for people ages 4-16. Alot of cartoon wallpapers, and stuff like that.

I may not be a child, but I like it! Finally a Microsoft OS with a Nice Looking default wallpaper!

    Windows7 was my design.

I am a 44 y/o male and I absolutely love the looks of Windows 7. I never liked XP. I don't like Mac and I hate Linux in every possible version. I did like Vista but was too slow.

Windows 7 is just great and I am enjoying it like a child in Christmas. It's really beautiful, full of possibilities, amazing wallpapers (I made my own pack of favorite landscape photos from that amazing collection that MS provides). I love the transparencies, the icons, the colors, it's very lively, flexible... To me this is the best OS ever so far and runs very very fast in my modest laptops.

I think MS wanted to create a very stable work horse (like windows 2000) that would apeal to those who like eye candy (like XP). And I personally believe they have secceeded...I LIKE IT!

+1 from me. I like Win7 because of it's smaller footprint and the enhanced automation. But for functionally it is a step backwards from Vista (if you like real operating systems). I think it was designed for nice little old ladies. But I can care less about the eye candy. I rather have functions.

What teenagers have the money to spend on windows 7? Spoiled ones with rich parents. Then there are ones like me who install Ubuntu because its free .

How can you hate linux in every possible version? Its completely customizable, you can make it look like windows if you so choose.

Is it because you can't run .exe unless you use a program such as wine? Or because you have to use terminal for most installations?
