User folder resorts every time its opened...

    Okay. This is just... irritating.

I keep alot of crud in my user folder. Used to do said with My Doccuments in 2k3/2k/XP. That said the user folder really takes that slot in W7.

But whenever I have it set to Sort By Type, every damn time I open the folder it takes a few seconds to resort it...

If it's set to sort by name or size I open it its already sorted. Or at-least its sorting it faster than the amount of time it takes for the window itself to form.

This... is actually the grand total of my only complaint with Windows 7... ^.^... And I was a violent vista hater.
Anyone got a clue as to how to fix this other than reducing the contents of the folder?
I mean, what's the point to having good advanced sorting and searching--when it causes delays to use it?

Also, under 2k3(and xp I would assume) the exact same contents in My Doccuments didn't have any such issues. With alot more junk actually.

By your own admission you have a lot on your computer. It takes time to work through all that stuff. But lets make it as easy as possible on the computer.

    Go to computer icon, click
right click on c drive go to properties
use disc clean (or similar name) when done, on the same page as disc clean you will see include system (bottom left), include that in clean up

Sometimes if there is a lot to be removed it takes more than one time.

After clean up Do an error check. get it the same way you got the clean up, but use the tools tab ( on top of the page, right after you get properties on c drive). Then do error check and then format. This will help. But if you get rid of some of the crud, you will get the best results.

Except I WANT all the stuff that is in there. And windows XP, 2k, 2k3... And actually having tested it. Ubuntu. None of these have an issue with this quantity of information.

And I did do an error check. And defrag. Neither did any good. Well, except for UT3's load times... which is unrelated ^.^... (That's another hdd... with... alot of freashly reinstalled games on it... ^.^')

Is it so unreasonable to ask that the most modern operating system not have trouble with basic tasks every previous incarnation of its own product line had no problem with? I mean yes. Windows 2k/XP/2k3 took a second or two to resort a folder that stuffed... But they didn't resort it every time you open it. So it was fine for general use.

... I would go back to 2k3... If not for the dozens of things that M$ DID get right with W7.
