Win 7 Disk Full? I have 250 Gigs!!!

    Help please

I have Win 7 factory installed on a Asus Desktop All in One. I guess I don't understand why the disk is broken up as win 7 (C) disk & Data (D) disk. I was transfering my bought & paid for AMZ MP3 files via thumb drive to the new computer from my old HP XP System.

I created a new folder on my screen & after a few dumps of files-I get this message saying Win 7 (C) disk almost full at 40 Gigs. I have a 250 Gig disk. What gives!!!???

That IS strange. You should not have 250GB of stuff. You could run this tiny app and see exactly what is taking up the space.

Go to computer icon, click on it. You will see the c drive. Does that agree with the message. I am trying to determine if the message is in error.

How large is your back up drive?

Place your data files on the d: drive. It contains the rest of your hard drive capacity.

You may have to make the C drive larger. There are tools like gparted or I would just reinstall. Make a clean install and when asked how big a restore partition, something like 15% would be good.

I just noticed that the OS is factory installed. You can go back to factory specs, if that is the best for you. Just read your manual it will tell you how. Basically, it is using an f key to bring back to factory specs. Assuming that what happened to your drives did not corrupt the drive needed for the operation.

I am lost. I have done anything but try to put some files on this computer. Factory specs??????? Go back???? I haven't conciously or unconciously changed anything,

First off I don't understand Win 7 C drive for 40 Gig(THat is ASUS's setting-not mine) and then 250 gig "data drive What good is a C drive of only 40 Gigs as set by Asus and for win 7 32 bits i just noticed Not 64
And i have I tunes install but I think it is for Win 7 64 bit because I thought ALL WIN 7 was 64 bit

No there are 32 and 64 bit versions avail..Assuming that everything you are saying is correct. I would try to return it. The stores have easy policies around this time of year. You can exchange it for the machine of your choice.
