    Weird behaviour of task scheduler

    Hi,

I noticed a strange behaviour from the Task Scheduler.

When my TNT program creates a scheduled task and then I put the computer in sleep about half an hour before the emission to record everything is going fine (computer wakes up on time, program records the emission and go back to sleep if I asked to do it).

However when I put the computer in sleep more than one hour before the start of the emission to record then the computer can't wake up on time and the program doesn't record anything.
I can see in the Event Viewer an event about the wake up of the computer. When it doesn't work the GUID is 0 (something like "Task Scheduler launched "{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}" instance of task..."). When it works the GUID is a valid one.

I had Vista before and everything was ok. I also tried to change the scheduled task to run it with the highest privileges but it doesn't help.

Does somebody have an idea what's going wrong here?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I do not know if the computer can wake up from hibernation to do the task, but you might check your power settings to see if that might be happening after an hour, or perhaps something else is turning off after that amount of time.

I have found a bigger problem. If the task takes longer than a certain amount of time, the computer goes back to sleep.

Indeed it could wake up from hibernation at least under Vista I didn't try yet with 7 but I already checked the power settings and the hibernation mode is disabled. The only thing deactivated after less than one hour I can see with the power settings I use is the hard disk (after 20 minutes). But as the task successfully ran 30 minutes after the computer started to sleep I don't think this could have an effect.
I check further if something else is deactivated after some time.
