As far as activation is concerned, so long as the key is legit there should be no issue re-installing and reactivating as often as you need to.
Activation basically creates a unique Hardware ID, specific to your PC, based on a few variables. Hardware & bios for example. As long as this is the same, there's no issue for the most part.
The only problem you may have:
It's possible, adding a new HD for the OS, or new motherboard, for example, "may" cause activation to fail due to this.
However, in the event there is, and the key is refused, you can just phone Microsoft and they will gladly help you sort out the issue, get activated, and back up and running in no time. And they are usually very quick and helpful so no worries there.
