    Hard Drive Help

Ok I have the Windows 7 Ultimate beta, and was wondering how do I make a copy of my hard drive so that I can transfer all of my stuff to my new Windows 7? I have 2 hard drives, and I want to be able to play games on my new version of Windows 7 like Call of Duty without having to re-install them or re-download them. I know I can't use the easy tansfer wizard on this version of windows, so what do I do?

    Hi Anpippin,

You can find many programs to copy your hardrive, some manufacturers provide these (so check your HD website) and there are also well known programs like Norton's Ghost and Acronis True Image.

However if you want to copy your HD so that you can upgrade your beta release to a full release of Win 7, this is honestly not recommended and you may find propblems with your install as a result. In fact Microsoft tells you not to do this, there are some workarounds at the links below if you really want to try this (but back-up everything first )

You can't clone or copy your programs from the beta into a retail version of Win7.

It would just copy over the beta version to the other HD.

It might be possible to in-place Upgrade from RC, although MS warned against it. Some have tried it successfully with a workaround.

yep, you can use Partition Wizard.

It's free, you just register for a key, I've been using it for around 6 months and I'm happy with it.

If you want to post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management map, we can advise you better.

Just let us know exactly what you want to do.

Use the SNipping tool in Start Menu, attaching file using paper clip in reply box.

Use the free Partition Wizard bootable CD here: Free Download Partition Wizard
