'Date Modifed' of filename doesn't change

I'm working in AutoCAD, saving a VBA project. The VBA changes are saved in the file, but the Date Modified date in Windows Explorer doesn't change! And the Date Modified reported is OLDER than the Date Created. Not good... anybody else notice this behavior? Any way to fix it?

    thanks in advance...

Date created vs. date modified? - Yahoo! Answers

Date created is the date the file was actually created on your system; date modified is the last date on which the contents of the file changed.

Some programs change or preserve these dates, so they may have different meanings. For example, if you copy files from one drive to another while holding Ctrl, the copies will show the current date as the last modified date; but if you press Shift instead, they will be moved and will contain the same modified date as the source files.

For something you download, the create and modified dates will typically be the date of the download.

Thanks seeker... that explains why the 'Date Modified' is earlier than the date created, but doesn't address why the 'Date Modified' does not change when the file is saved with changes. I've tested this several times, that is, saved changes, and the modified date stays the same. This creates the potential for serious problems!

I'm using ACAD 2007, and the file is a VBA (DVB) file that was copied over from a Vista PC. The changes that I make to the file are saved and are there when I open the program again, but the Date Modified doesn't change.

I can create a new folder, export a file into it, view the new folder in Explorer, and it's not there. This must be some kind of permissions thing, but no messages pop up. Maddening.

Yes, classic view. This must be a permissions thing, as it won't let me save a text file into that folder (Program Files x86), telling me I have to get permission from admin, but I AM admin, no other users on computer. Grrrr.

You are not the Admin, you are just part of the Administrators group. Program Files is a secured location and in order to alter this location you must elevate a process by accepting a UAC prompt. But you are better off not trying to save files in this location. Use your user directory or another location specified not important to the system.

Thanks logicearth... You're right, AutoCAD will save the DVB (VBA Project file) file to the appropriate Program Data folder, with the appropriate 'Date Modified' date. Unfortunately, in order to run the DVB from a button on the toolbar, the DVB file must be in the same folder as AutoCAD. I'm using AutoCAD 2007, and this is probably fixed in later versions, but that is no help at the momement.

It's interesting, nevertheless, that AutoCAD will save the changes in the DVB file but the Date Modified date will not chage at all in this folder. I'll have to come up with some sort of stategy for saving the file, something like copying it elsewhere, then copying it back....

    Thanks again.

That would be due to the fact it is not saving in the place you think it is. If an application was trying to write to a location it did not have permission (Program Files) the location would be virtualized so as not to break the applications (or cause a UAC prompt). It would save the write operation here: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore
