    Computer Management

The problem is CompMgmtLauncher.exe stops working and loses its association with the Computer Management Console

    Workaround

Create a Batch File under C:\Windows\System32\ called CompMgmtLauncher.bat

Download this attachment Attachment 44604 save it under C:\Windows\System32

Go To Start Type Regedit and do a search for CompMgmtLauncher.exe
    Mine was located here.

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command]

Under this key you will find a line that ends in CompMgmtLauncher.exe
Change the exe to bat and Manage should now work.

    Hope this helps

Your workaround "QUOTE" did the trick for me.

    Ok,

I found a fix for this below if you would like to use it. :)

Manage - Fix "File does not have a program associated"

You would need to first change the CompMgmtLauncher.bat back to CompMgmtLauncher.exe for the at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command in the registry to undo the workaround above.

    Hi
    Here is another fix :
    Go to :
    RUN\REGEDIT\[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command]
and modify the existing value in
    mmc %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc
Works at once , no need to reboot .
    Best regards ,
    Fanaudi .

    Hi Rjmach ,

Wen you open RUN\REGEDIT\[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command] for the first time
you should get this as value in the right window :

    %SystemRoot%\system32\CompMgmtLauncher.exe

Make a double-click on the value ( default ) and change it to

    mmc %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc

and you are done , no Batch File needed , no download , works at once , no need to reboot . You can also have a look here if you wish :

Manage - Fix "File does not have a program associated"

    Best regards ,
    Chris .
