The repair disk is the same as the "Repair My Computer" console on the DVD installer's second screen. It has a variety of repair tools for boot level repairs if the OS will not start.

It will scan the HD to find the OS and then run tests to see what repairs it needs and offer them. It also has a recovery tools list with Startup Repair, System Restore (from boot), Command Line, and Restore using a Backup Image.

It would not be the repair for a performance issue like freezing during wake up from sleep. You should troubleshoot the issue by posting a new topic which has a title that exactly describes the problem (to get more help responses), Google to read about others who have had the problem and their solutions, call MS Tech Support if you bought retail Win7 (it is included in the cost), or call your computer maker's Support if Win7 came with the computer.

There is a Repair Install run from the desktop using the DVD which reinstalls the OS while keeping all your programs, files and settings in place. But I would try troubleshooting first to see if you can solve the problem. A Repair Install is best left as the last resort before reinstalling.

The repair disk won't help for this problem. However MS has released the beta version of a hotfix for problems seen when coming out of hibernation. For the time being until the final tested version or SP1 for 7 is seen you have to fill out a request for that. You receive various Stop error messages in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 when you resume a computer that has a large SATA hard disk

Primarily this is a fix for problems when running a large capacity sata drive.
