Is this a new feature of Windows 7?? I didnt have this problem last year
if i had a piece of software pull that on me it would be gone. this is the reason i have nothing set to automatically go out and check for drivers, updates or any other reason. there are way too many programs that ask for internet access that never need to connect to the net.
Possibly, but if you play games you must allow them to activate, sometimes twice before they load, although activation takes a minute.
activation is one thing, beyond that other than manually doing updates printing and creating programs do no need to go out to the net. and you can deny access per use like i do depending on which firewall program you are using. i would find myself a good third party firewall that gives you the option of what does and does not access your system and the internet. there are a lot of programs that the windows firewall allow to go online that i would never allow. for example i bought a copy of your uninstaller it activates without going online, but yet on first run i get a prompt from zonealarm telling me that your uninstaller wants to go online. and the same thing can be said for the security software itself. it only needs to go online for activation validation. i recommend that you manually update these programs and their definition files. the other plus for not allowing programs to go online whenever they feel like it is the fact of the saved system resources by setting them to be manically updated.
