Build 7057 desktop.ini Fix
Ok guys , I've installed it and first thing, I fixed the desktop.ini issue.
Here's How: 1. Click on the Start orb and at the search type: shell:common startup and press Enter. The "all users" start menu startup folder will open, where you will find a desktop.ini file. Right click on it, select properties and hide it. (Check the "hidden" checkbox and press ok). 2. Done. Reboot and the desktop.ini will not appear again. Limneos Note: Special thank to unawave , for verifiying that hiding them also works. |

See a hidden file? A contradiction into himself ...
Microsoft says: Be careful: Deleting of Windows files can lead to instable operating system. Psychologist says: Why you are killing what you don't like? Learn to live with faults. Biologist says: Why you are weeding weeds? Even weeds have a right to exist in our world. Mother says: Why you are so brutal and delete this little, innocent file? Why not give it a chance to emancipate it to other desktop.ini files? So: Hold "shift" key down and right mouse click to folder "Autostart". Choose "Open command line here". Enter: attrib desktop.ini +s +h |

... and Simon says: Just delete it.
Unawave, have you seen the desktop.ini files in build 7057 or you're just saying that? The desktop.ini files already have the attribute +s +h (system, hidden), however, the system opens them, since they're in startup folder. That's why I instruct to go and select "show hidden files and folders". This means that either there shouldn't be a desktop.ini file in startup folder, or that M$ should have included a registry option to exclude these files in that particular startup folder from opening, but perhaps they forgot to. ![]() See a hidden file ? A contradiction into himself
See a hidden file is a contradiction into itself ??? You mean that, after reading all the above, you didn't understand that I mean to see the "previously" hidden file, but you were trying to see files that are still hidden??? ![]() Read an unread message is a contradiction "to itself"? Open a closed window is a contradiction "to itself"? The files were hidden, after doing what I describe they're not hidden anymore, so you can see them. However, if you want to do corrections in english, cause as you know I'm greek and it's not my native language, perhaps you should recheck the syntax "contradiction to himself"? him? whom? |

GTA 4 on Build 7057 64bit I need a bit of a hand here. When playing GTA 4, the game's option menu lists 230-ish megs seems to think I only have 256megs of video to work with and not the 512 in SLi. You can see by my system specs that my PC should be giggling at the tiny amount of information GTA4 will ask it to process, but... |
