And please make sure you only post a few lines of someone else's article, post the source link, and wrap it in quotes.
This comment pops up on many similar forums. IMO it is a little unfair. Sometimes, I would agree, the article is so long and detailed, a link would be more expiditious.
However, I am sure most users come on a site such as this for information, not for a link to another site. Whilst noone can dispute that Brinks tutorials are absolutely superb, it is not quite so easy to search, using the known text, for an article altready published.
The OP, in sincerity, wished to pass on some information which he felt would be usful to other members. If he searched on these pages for "God mode" , I doubt he would find it.
Hints and tips in the use of software, are not, and can never be, copyright. They are free for anyone to find. There are some "authors" around the web at the moment, who are, in spite of that, claiming copyright for long documents/E books they have produced. (Brink is not one of those!) I find that often, it is easier to copy and paste someone elses work when offering help, but I do have a huge Dbase of such, which I can also quote from. Rarely can anyone provide original work of this nature, particulæalry as most customisation, etc. has been inherited from Vista, which has been around a while now.
Fwiw, I reproduced the tip mentioned here, from a long lost article, several years ago, on another (Vista) site. It may even have been from Microsoft's own pages.
Happy new year to you also, Nburnes.,
agreed I get annoyed when I see someone make a post on some site about tech info and they just post a link. I see it as wrong. No problem crediting the source but to force me to another site to read the content is a no no.

    GodMode Breaks Something Else...tooooooooooo

In a multi-boot scenario I have been so used to being able to plonk things from one OS on to another's desktop (or other folders). Once the GodMode button was activated in both my Windows 7's I now can no longer access their desktop folders (only) from my Vista OS's.

"Windows Explorer has a headache and must close" or words to that effect.....GRRRR.

So now I have to evaluate whether or not to keep this shortcut in my Windows 7's.

The problem does go away if one deletes the shortcut.

That's very curious. I have been using this kind of shortcut for a long while - a year or more. Never had any issue of any kind.

I don't know why having a shortcut to All Tasks would have any effect on the ability to move files/folders from one o/s desktop to another.

Yet if you are able to stop the problem by removing it - then recreate the problem by reinstating it - who can say.

'Tis curious indeed. I'm left scratching my head on that one.

I can only assume that the shortcut somehow alters permissions on the desktop.

"GodMode" works fine for us on Windows 7 64 bit and Windows Server 2008 R2.
TTS is the same as that on the Control Panel as would be expected.
You still need the work around C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
if you want to display both 32 and 64 bit TTS Voices

Godmode only refers to the fact that you get access to just about everything control panel related in a single folder. That's all it does.

FYI: More Canonical Names of Control Panel Items
