LCD Monitor loses contact with computer

Hi & new year on you all! 2010 huh!!

Not quite sure where this one sticks - so I picked the 'general forum'.

Problem:

1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).

2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.

My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor

Analog – so I use a AD-adapter.

Go figure, I have this problem all the time when starting the computer after it has been off all night.
Basically, when cold, pushing the power button causes the many system fans to start running, and I can see the little blinking lights of the CD-ROM and CD-DVD Drives as they cycle, but no video...and no sound, no wonderful Windows 7.

What I do to get the computer working is Push the power button (cold start), WAIT about 35 seconds, then re-start by pushing the main power button until the computer/Fans shut off, then quickly push it again to restart. Upon Restart via this method, the computer then BEEPS merrily, the video kicks in, shows the bios setup screen then everything proceeds to windows startup as normal.
Never been able to figure this out. Plenty of power from my PSU (see specs). Just have learned to deal with this minor irritation.

I figure it must be a video card problem (or possibly a signal problem), but it has always worked upon restart, so I gave up worying about it.

I know this is not a solution to your problem but I thought I would share that "others" are having similar problems. (even if they are not exactly the same problems)

Addendum/Edit For some reason, when accessing this site from work, all of the nifty edit/etc. buttons are "blocked" and do not show up.... Stupid Websense.
