    HDD indicator light

MAIN ISSUE: Hey guys. Today I noticed that my HDD indicator light won't stop being on. It's not flashing; it's just solid ON. Also, I just tried using the Window's "check Disk for errors option" in the disk's properties but the Windows said that it could not check the disk while the disck is in use. As far as I can tell, however, the DISK IS NOT IN USE!

    Anti-virus is not scanning.
    HDD is not defraging.

(I've noticed 2 other problems that may be related so I mention them here: 1) my DVD/CD ROM RW no longer writes CD's but can still play CD and DVD & 2) on boot-up just after the BIOS I get a message that says "previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint..." but it goes to fast and I can't read it all then everything boots up fine.) are these related?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Sounds like the motherboard may be failing. I'd try installing the newest drivers/firmware available for your motherboard.

Is the HDD light solid while posting/booting? When does it come on?

Hitting pause may help you read the screen.

Did you put this system together? Have you changed any connections or changed anything in the bios?

If it isn't new, how old is the hard drive?
