Need a little help

Ok, 3 days ago I bought an hp laptop.
Its the dv4-2045dx.
Everything works on it just peachy except for the horrible pre-installed hp stuff.

Anyway Its Windows 7 64bit. I've already downloaded IE8 and the javascript is working and everything.

But randomly youtube, or anything using java on IE8 will freeze "NOT RESPONDING"

Seriously though, totall random when it decides to do this.

And yes I've installed adobe flash and all that jazz.

Also, sometimes when i try to use the webcam online in IE8 it does the same thing: "freeze's then, "NOT RESPONDING"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this is a real problem at the moment.

Gotta love that word "peachy" :)

If the issue is intermittent have a look your event log and see if anything is holding up your system.

You could also uninstall the bloatware (the HP stuff). As a golden rule I always recommend a fresh install if you buy a new machine, that way you can leave the bloatware out, this is more personal choice and depends on what you are comfortable doing.

Next, a new machine has a lot to update, so update everything from windows update and then look at the manufacturer website to see if any more updates are available that haven't reached Microsoft yet. THen look at java and any other 3rd party software like Mother board utilities and update all of it.

Next, check your updates, defrags, backups and anything else that runs on a schedule and see if this matches the time that you receive the lag.

Lastly, if it's occurring in internet explorer, try another browser like Chrome or firefox and see if the problem persists.

I gave up with IE and now only use FireFox much better have never had any problems since I started using it

I would much rather use firefox, but since I have windows 7 64 bit I cant run java with firefox.

Work on finding a 64 bit Win7 installer to clean reinstall to overcome inevitable bloatware corruption.

All versions are in the installer but some are hidden by the presence of an ei.cfg file in Sources folder. Extract ISO to desktop, remove that file, recompile ISO to burn to DVD: Bootable ISO - Create from Installation Files

Unlike XP, A retail installer of your version will activate your OEM license, requiring a robocall to MS to sort out the batch key stickered to machine. Or audit actual key first using Belarc Advisor.

Meanwhile, you can uninstall bloatware as best you can. Check for residual listings in Software keys in 2nd and 3rd registry hives using regedit (set a restore point). Use CCleaner to clean disk and registry, then Auslogics defragger.

Now run sfc /scannow to see if removal caused unfixable OS file corruption which is common. Clean reinstall.
