    Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade (DENIED!)

    Hi Gang!

A helped a young lady and her mother purchase a new Toshiba laptop back on 8/8/09. The mother used her credit card to purchase said item.

I helped the young lady send in her Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade request to Toshiba on the internet. First, I faxed the Proof of Purchase with her Account # (per Toshiba) to Toshiba so they would have it. After about 2 weeks, with no confirmation they received it, I then scanned in the Proof of Purchase and then attached that to account online.

2 days later she was denied her upgrade.

The Proof of Purchase is a copy of the Sales Receipt. From Best-Buy !!

So, the new Toshiba is running Windows Vista Home Premium, bought in August of 09, and I sent them 2 copies of the Receipt !!! Everything they asked for !!!

What else should I do? I looked online at Toshiba, and there are a lot of people upset at Toshiba for denying them also. Some legitimate, a few not so.

I don't know if this is the track record of Toshiba, in luring people into buying their PC's, then backing out of the upgrade for the PC, or not.

So, anyone else having a difficult time with Toshiba about the upgrade? what to do?

    Thanks!

Not familiar with that particular offer, but there are one or two companines that handle rebates etc, for the manufacturers. They usually work the same way, the receipt PLUS proof of purchase is needed. The proof of purchase usually is the bar code from the box. Check your rules, and then try again.

    I've found this Ask Iris

Note that this is for the XP to Vista upgrade, but I would suspect that a similar requirement would exist for the Vista to Windows 7 upgrade as well.

To sum up, you will require:
    • Name of retailer or location where you purchased your computer.
    • Proof of Purchase dated within the Eligibility Period. Proof of Purchase options include receipt of purchase, gift receipt with date of purchase, and packing slip.
    • A valid Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for the preinstalled Microsoft Vista software -- located on a sticker affixed to the underside of your computer.
    • The model number of your computer -- located on a sticker affixed to the underside of your computer.
    • The Toshiba serial number of your computer -- located on a sticker affixed to the underside of your computer.
    • Your credit card information (for any fees and charges associated with your upgrade).
    • Billing and shipping addresses.
    • Your email address -- for order confirmation and order status.
Failing to provide any one or more of the above will mean that your application will be rejected, so make sure that you have all the relevant information to hand.
