Well Ted It's probably the only upgrade you haven't done over the last few months.
    Hello Nigel.

Yes, I have been trying it all, for the experience; MS may not develop another OS as completely new as Vista and now Windows 7 for quite some time and I don't want to miss the opportunity.

    Hello Ted,

I think it's safe to say, that now you've got the bug, you'll be there in the queue for Windows 8, & 9 ....

But have to agree the 7 Beta period has been an enjoyable time for me (still is). Not as long as the Vista one , and I've had a bit more time to be involved this time.

Have to start looking on connect for the next project if they do as they appear and release the RTM soon. - Though i think that will be the time that the SevenForums, really get busy - all those Noobs and the jump from XP to 7

Yes, I'd like to be a mouse in the corner to see some of their faces when they see Windows 7 for the first time, having never seen Vista.

    Hi guys
If you want to revert back to build 7048 without having to do a fresh install and re-install all your programs you CAN actually do an "Update" from W7 7057 to 7048.

You'll just get a Warning that the version is older than your current and that a device or two might not work --mine indicated the Motorola sm56 fax modem -- but I've got the driver for that anyway if I want to use it.

This leads creedence to the fact tha 7057 was "an Interim" build never intended for serious development use whereas build 7048 was actually part of the "True" development cycle.

Maybe my English might be mis-understood here -- I am NOT implying that build 7057 is a FAKE but just that it is a "testing" type build designed to check out certain parts of the process -- for example a lot of people experience longer install times before the Language menu comes up (perversly the better your gear the longer it takes to "start").

My advice would be that if you haven't installed 7057 don't bother --stay with 7048 until the next decent "leaked build" or the official RC1.

At least you won't have to look at the HIDEOUS logon screen.

    Cheers

I was getting a lot more crashes with 7057 than before (7048). But when I tried to "upgrade" back to 7048 I get an error
" The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

    • Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade. "

    Any Ideas?

Transfer the install.wim from 7048 over to the 7057 iso and replace that istall.wim and remake the iso, that should fool it into thinking it is doing a repair install and get you through the upgrade install.

I too 'd like to revert back to 7048 'caus of 150.000 crash and issues with 7057. Slower and unstable, WinExplorer constant crashing, control pannel crashing all the time, icons in the task bar corrupted... and so on...
So having the way to revert back 'd be nice.

i tried to downgrade from 7057 to 7048 (both 64bit) but i got the message:

"Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade"

    And the "close" button.

I don't know how you managed it...
