I think he means (the OP) that he has onboard sound and that he's still looking for a sound card. Confused me for a minute, too.
Lots of problems are operator generated. No matter what the OS. Nothing bothers me more than cleaning up a computer for someone with loads of spyware and an active virus or two, downloading and installing antimalware and a decent anti-virus for them, only to have to go back in 30-60 days and see that they have never run the programs that I installed.
I guess they don't have time to check their system, but they have time to be shut down while someone does it all over for them. I like to help people, but how about a person helping himself from time to time?

(My sys has no sound card as I am still messing with my MS Forcefeedback stick.) I will get it to work.
Which is why I charge for every cleaning. I don't give warranties on Malware/Virus clean up, or OS/software installs in general. you never know what the user is going to do and I would be fixing it for free constantly. After a while, they start getting the message cause they don't want to spend anymore money. And yes, I have told customers pretty much straight up that they are the cause of their problems.
