    same problem here i just reinstalled win7 prem after witch our peek will not work it's grayed out and it did work fine

    now this is a little funny but confusing ? ..... have been searching for about 3 hrs now on this problem and the last pg i looked at gave a fix that i hadn't seen b4 i tried & much to my surprise it worked
    so i hope it helps someone else

    easily fixed by going into performance info tools, adjust visual effects and go to show best apperence otherwise go to for best performance and back again and it worked for me.

    Thanks @tazz your SuperUser link got me on the right track. For me it wasn't the `Themes` service but the `Desktop Window Manager Session Manager` service which I had to restart. None of the other fixes here (or there) worked for me. I also updated Windows 7 Aero theme - no found fix - Super User
