32 or 64 bit Version

as you can see from my details I got an Acer Notebook with an AMD Turion 64 x2 CPU.
Which Version of w7 I should download...?

You computer can run either but if you dont intend to add more ram the 32 bit would be a better fit. The 64 bit needs 2 gigs minimum, 32 bit 1 gig. Plus the 32 bit is smaller in size and uses less resources

With only 2 MB of memory, I'd consider DOS.

Okay seriously, it all depends on your memory plans. I'm assuming you meant 2 GB, so if you plan to keep it that way for the life of the notebook, you are fine with 32 bit. If you plan to upgrade to 4 GB with the system, I'd go right to 64 bit now.

I think you will be best served with 32bit. The 64bit Win7 is supposed to be a little faster and also more secure than 32bit, but there are still quite a few programs that do not run on 64bit - that was the reason I opted for 32bit on this 3GB system here. But in the summer, when I am back in Germany, I plan to install 64bit on my 4GB Dell there hoping that the programs have caught up with 64bit. So bottom line: 64bit is certainly the future if you have 4GB or more RAM. But 32bit is more practical right now - especially for 2 or 3GB RAM systems.

Unless there is a particular program that is critical for you, that won't install or run properly, program compatibility is not all that great of an issue. For me, what it would boil down to is the RAM aspect.

EDIT: Another consideration is drivers. You need to check in advance that x64 drivers are available for your hardware.

For everyday computing I would agree your system would be happy with 7 x32.

for laptops always stick with the OS with the most drivers, since they are more model specific

I've to think about the RAM... but I don't think I'm gonna upgrade it.
So 32 bit might be the best fit for me.
