Seven Forums default skin

A question about the default skin to view 7 forums

I prefer the SF default-wide skin to view the forums fits my screen better but the problem is when i change to this the search box/link at the top right of the page becomes faint and i cant select it or perform a search, i have to change back to SF default skin so the search bar/link returns

Is this normal, is there a way around this so i can stay using wide skin and be able to search
