Black Screen After Windows is Starting

The other night i was on my laptop looking around when it randomly shutdown on me. Now when i tried to start my laptop up i get this black screen Windows had installed some stuff that afternoon i do not know if this is the cause of it. I can not start up in safe mode or anything. When i start up in safe mode it gets stuck at a driver then goes to tried to boot up then i get this blue screen thats there for about half a second then my laptop restats its self. That is what happens every time i start up my laptop. Except when i use startup recovory thats just takes me to the black screen

Since the startup recovery failed, I would think that the next step would be a repair install...unless you have a backup image that you can restore from.

EDIT: Before trying the above, I can recall some saying that running the startup recovery multiple times might help...like maybe 3 times.

    You just said you can't.

You have to set it too boot from CD in BIOS, is that what you have been doing? Before you get to the OS?

Sounds like a bad drive, or bad BIOS.
