Is my system fit enough to handle Windows 7?

Hey there! The title says it all. I've installed Windows 7 on my pc and here I am sitting wondering if my computer is better off with XP. I don't have a super fancy pc, these are my systemspecs.

    Memory: 4096MB RAM

Card name: ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series
    Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
    Dedicated Memory: 508 MB

    Native Mode: 1280 x 1024(p) (60.020Hz)

Why I ask this is because I love playing around in Windows 7, but I really want to be able to play the games that I usually play in XP as well. World of warcraft and Battlefield Heroes. I haven't installed any of the games yet. So if there's anyone here with similar hardware who could tell me if my computer is too weak or not, i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance! :)

It should run OK, but check to make sure you can get your drivers before installing it. :)

See if you can find 64bit drivers and run the 64bit version so you can use all of your ram

Yeah I would really consider 64bit to use all your ram, and FYI, WOW works great.

    Thanks for the replies! :)

I'm gonna install the x64 version tonight. But I need to be sure that there are drivers for my motherboard. I've been trying to find it. But no luck. If someone here could help me look for the drivers, that would be so great.

So, based on the information provided, my guess is that I'm looking for "Intel® 955X Express Chipset" drivers? I think I found some drivers for vista x64. But that won't work for the Windows 7 x64 version right?

    Thanks guys!

Don't worry. You are way over the requirements

For instance before January 2008, I had a P4 3GHz w/2GB of RAM and Ati Radeon X600 Pro 256MB and it ran Vista with Aero without any lags. So, if that config runs Vista with success, yours will be able to run Win7 with no difficulty at all.

Check my specs. :) My computer runs amazingly well doing all sorts of stuff from gaming to video encoding. No, it's not anywhere near the same league as the latest core i7 but I'm very happy here.

I'd say Stink's 3.4 GHz Dual-core is fancy, but certainly not super fancy :P

Super fancy are these two processors, the current creme ala creme for desktop and laptop respectively.

    Desktop: Intel® Core™ i7-965 Extreme 3.2 GHz 8MB Cache
    Laptop: Intel® Core™2 Extreme Quad QX9300 2.53GHz 12MB Cache

The laptop one is actually the sexier one in my eyes, not as fast but a friend of mine has a laptop with one of them along with 4 GB RAM @ 1066 mhz and it's absolutely ridiculously fast, to the point that it can beat my desktop's Q6600 in some benchmarks. (Which is not common at all for a laptop to manage...)
