    windows.old help

I need help on what type of folders are in there. I deleted those files because I moved my files to my PC from Vista. Give me list of all folders please! I've been looking on the net for answers. Thanks.

windows.old is what your previous Windows Vista installation was renamed to when you upgraded to Windows 7. It has everything in it that was there when you did the upgrade.

There is no way anyone can tell you every folder and file that was there previously. For instance, on my Windows 7 Pro X64 installation, there are 13,544 folders containing 64,624 files occupying 14.6GB of drive space. Vista was probably similar.

BTW: None of it is needed for Windows 7 to run though there may have been some user data there that you wanted to access.

If you backed up everything before installing windows 7, you do not need those folders. They constain everything that was on your old system. The usual course of action is not to delete until you are sure that your did not forget to backup something. Deleting them cause no problems with your current OS. All that remains is for you to enjoy. Take care.
