I removed U3 from FD, but it has old name still?

Ok I was finally able to remove U3 software & format the sandisk flash drive.

I have given it a new name, but yet it still has the old name U3 had given it?

Here is a couple of pics

It SHOULD now be JohnnyScience Cruzer (as it does under disk management)

But instead its still showing as JScience (M:) under My Computer?

Did you remove it and put it back in?

    Second try this
Remove the drive and uninstall it using that tool
    Then insert it again

    yeah its really weird...

Even when I try to rename it by right clicking on it, it lets me change it but then changes right back to JScience?

So it still must be registering some where as JScience...

I think your issue is the length of the name try to shorten it and see if it will then change correctly

No that doesnt matter if its 3 letters or 15, still just defaults back to JScience

I remember JScience was the initial name U3 gave it when I first got the drive & setup U3 with out knowing what it was (but U3 has since been completely removed from the drive...)

I believe the name can be no longer than 11 characters

Then this may be a U3 thing,, maybe saved on some firmware...

There are generally 2 ways (that I know of) to name a usb device

The General Tab and an autorun.ini file on the root of the drive, which is a hidden file.
    Are you showing hidden files?

I know you formatted the drive which should have gotten rid of it,, but maybe U3 is putting something there. who knows.

I personally don't know, nor like U3 devices.
