7057 expires in March 2010, 7048 (and all prior versions) expire in July 2009.

For a server you still can't beat Windows 2003 however (even the 32 bit version supports a reasonable amount of extended memory) and you can still have multi-meda on it as well if you must on a server.

Windows XP Pro 64 bit is also pretty good if you've got all the drivers for it -- this is probably the FASTEST OS microsoft has produced to date

pitty it never made mainstream (or maybe not as I'm sure given the performance of XP Pro 64 it might have delayed Windows 7 for a while -- but at least it would have saved that VISTA nightnmare people had at the start --sp1 and sp2 are better however --but that's another topic).

I'll probably keep XP PRO 64 bit for a while after W7 -- can run a load of VM's on it anyway for other needs.

I like W7 for laptops -- this IMO is FAR better than XP and VISTA doesn't even merit a mention.

Cheers
jimbo
Some are using Server 2003 drivers on XP Pro 64 to get through the ME II 3rd party flop there. No one wrote any drivers for it!

Having been running Vista since it's release without and then with SPs it's shown itself far more stable then XP. Again it becomes a ME III 3rd party flop again from the lack of new programs and updated softwares for existing hardwares. "where's my tuner card application update?! need more then just the drivers! argh!"

7 itself easily takes on XP and Vista there for seeing the desktop finish loading while still watching the timer icon on XP and Vista as well still flickering on and off until the last things are finished. Some people are running 7 on old boats only seeing 512mb of memory and haven't been complaining.

Jimbo45, I've been running 7048 since the night it was available. Clean install. Winver shows it expiring 7-1-2009 at 4:59PM. You have a different 7048??

I am running an old P4 machine with 512MB of RAM and have no complaints. It runs fine. I am using readyboost with a 2GB flash drive and it does help. Good OS.

IstDon, 7048 DOES expire 7-1-09. I just upgraded to 7057 for that reason. 7057 expires on 3-1-10. That's a lot better for me. Good luck updating!

Norton 360 v3 on 7057?
Anyone got this working? 360 v3 worked fine for me on 7000, 7022, and 7048, but it doesn't on 7057. All I get on reboot is a black screen, and I have to go into safemode to uninstall 360 and then everything is fine again.
