Two Win Explorer Windows Side by Side

I am running XP Pro and have not used Windows 7 yet.

Is it possible to open two Windows Explorer windows and tile them vertically as it is in XP Pro?

I use this method to drag and drop files between folders and wondered if I will lose this option?

If so, is there an equivalent method in Win7 and what is it please?

Thanks

Hello Wireless, welcome to the Seven Forums.

I could never explain this as good as this video does:

I hope that answers your question.

Hello, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can right click on the taskbar for these options, but you can also use the shortcut in the tutorial below. More details on all of this are in the tutorial as well. It works in Windows 7 to.

Show Windows Stacked or Side by Side - Create Shortcuts - Vista Forums

You can also use Aero Snap for this.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

That answers my question regarding the positioning of windows, now the remaining question is what is the equivalent of windows explorer in Win7?

These are some example screenshots of the Windows 7 Windows Explorer. The address bar is the same as in Vista though.

It's called, funny enough, Windows Explorer

IMO it is clear better than it was in XP, but some users find some 7 Explorer features (or lack of those) not so nice as for example discussed here.

Here's a screenshot to compare. To the left XP Eplorer running on my Virtual XP, and to the right the same folder in 7 Explorer, same file highlighted:

That's just the info I was was looking for. I'm relieved to see that they left windows explorer in 7. Actually I do like it better than my long time companion XP...ha...ha...

Kari, are you using VMware for your Virtualization Software ?

Cheers...

I'm using Microsoft Windows Virtual PC & XP Mode, free download here. For Linux virtual machines I'm using Sun VirtualBox, free download here.

Side by side: UI changes from Windows 7 beta to build 7048
What's new in the latest Windows 7 build? I'm asked this question every time there's a new build out and I see it asked on forums, too. Usually, the response is brief because it's really hard to spot all the changes when you're just using the new build. That's exactly why I've put this post...
