Wake from sleep when removing USB devices

I don't really know where to put this question, but here goes..

I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Win7 Professional x64 on it. Whenever my laptop goes to sleep, then I remove any USB device, a mouse or flash drive, it automatically wakes from sleep. Any way I can prevent this? Thanks.

You may want to try going to device manager> mouse or key board; one at at time. Open them, right click properties>advanced> and turn off the wake feature. Maybe that will help

I was thinking the same thing rich, but could one use the same method on the Actual USB host controller? I don't have my 7 system here, so I don't know if the option is there.

I think that you may be able to.

I am sure, however, that shutting off from the device manager does stop the computer from waking. I had trouble with wakaing now and then, I turned off NIC card and now no problem
You can also make the adjustment from the control panel. Go to mouse and properties, change settings, then power settings.

It sounds like the OP needs to prevent the USB ports from making his computer come out of sleep. I have never run into this amazingly enough.

jordancrockett, try that and let us know if you will. See if you can use device manager to prevent USB hub activity from waking the computer.

Is it possible that the computer wakes up since the safe removal is required for those USB devices? You can try to change the settings in the device properties and turn off the requirement for safe removal. I am not sure, but it seems to me that an external USB mouse should not require the safe removal. At the same time, USB flash drives usually do. I never had an issue like that since I do not use sleep at all, but I would try to play with the wake up setting as Richard suggested or try to change the safe removal setting.
