    Problem with Windows 7 Taskbar

    Hello,

Before I directly ask what the problem is I would like to make sure that it is not my graphics card.

I have an HP dv6 1280 US laptop with a Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics card.

Last night I just upgraded/installed the newest driver and re-installed the catalyst control center.

I still have the same problem with my Windows 7 taskbar.

Before the taskbar was light brown color. Now it is a light blue color(Changed automatically for no reason).

Before when I looked at a program that was pinned to the taskbar(Say Firefox or Internet Explorer) I could see a window that showed the web page.

Now I can still put my mouse cursor over the Window but all I see is text. There is no mini-window.

    What could be causing this?

Sounds like aero has been disabled or something i preventing it from running. Go to start and type aero in the search bar and go through the stuff that pops up.

    Thank You BunBun,

I did this and changed the Aero theme to landscapes and others.

I'm still having the same problem.

    Gaz,

    I just tried this:

I have tried the Aero troubleshooter and saw the different videos from Microsoft.

One problem is that I cannot change the window color.

It says that it is lavender although it is a different color.

It seems like this is a common problem:

The Windows 7 taskbar always stays at this pale blue color. I cannot change it by changing a different aero theme. It is some sort of bug.

Go to start, type Windows Experience Index and click it. Scroll down, and re-run assessment (it's probably called different if you haven't run the assessment at all). Your computer will determine whether your system can handle aero or not. If not, but you do want it, go to visual effects on the left, and just mark the checkboxes.

I had some issues with changing my theme settings and couldn't even change my screen saver. Turns out I had some corrupt system files.

Try running running the following from the run comment or press windows key + r:

    sfc /scannon
