How to get rid of "Do you want to open this file" promp

    Hi,

Whenever I Open some .exe files, and also whenever utorrent wants to run on startup, I get the message "Do you want to open this file".

I have Disabled UAC with the Slider in "User Accounts" in the control panel and reset the computer but I still get the annoying prompts.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Hi Z2TT,

The solution in this thread is for XP, but I've tested and it works the same in Windows 7 -- although it may be necessary for you to be using Professional edition or higher, I'm not sure. Let me know how it works out.

    Cheers,

I will try disable them if thats what should be done.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I'll Disable them and let you know if it works.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I disabled those two policies and restarted the computer, However I still get the "Do you want to open this file" prompt. I double checked to see if they are still disabled and they are but still i get that prompt.
