Try this method.

Download this tool http://www.apacer.com/en/support/dow...r_v2.9.1.1.zip

Extract it to your desktop.

Remember to insert your pendrive in 1st.

Now run the program and format your usb pendrive with it.

Let me know if it works for you. Thanks.

Something is wrong with your usb pendrive. Cause most users are able to format theirs using that tool even if it's write protected.

Ok now try this.

Go to start menu, type regedit.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Now see at the right side that Is there any DWORD value exist with the name of WriteProtect??

If it exist, change its value to 0.

Depending on where this usb drive cam from...does your friend know for certain. because it might be a dongle. A key to use for a program. you insert the dongle and then you have access to a program. a dongle would not be accessible for the files on it or seen by some systems as a drive even.

To change USB partitions, you will need to use the bootable CD: Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition.
