Windows 7: desktop icons folder

desktop icons folder

hi, this is my first post.

by default, where are the new created desktop icons saved in win7.
are they auto saved in c:\users\user\desktop
(i am creating an icon for a msdos .exe file)

That is correct. Any files you save to the desktop, or any shortcuts created on the desktop, will be saved to "c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Desktop".

In some cases, shortcuts that appear on the desktop will be located in "c:\Users\All Users\Desktop"

There will not be a desktop folder inside All users in windows seven.

S its there. To see it you need to enable hidden and super hidden folder views

Its already enabled. I goto c:\users and all I can see is the admin, my account, my domain account, default and public.
I have seen all users under XP.
