Windows 7: Unable to access old HD

Unable to access old HD

Hi Friends
Here is the situation.
I was given a WinXP computer with a bad HD that will not boot and unable to get to a good restore point.

I installed it on my good Win7 system and can see all the documents, pictures etc that I'm trying to backup on a CD.

It seem that with my adminstrative access to my system I'm unable to access the old documents and copy them to another location.

So the question is how and what methond could I gain access to and copy all the old data on this drive. Like I said I see it all but when I try to copy or move using Explorer it says I can't do it without Administrative authority.

I know I'm missing something but just can't remember why I can not access it.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I found the solution on gaining access as Admin.
Sorry for the message. I was getting a little worried I couldn't figure it out.

Boot an Ubuntu live cd and copy all the data off. Do it ASAP before the drive dies permanently.
