Problems with shift delete

Hi,

I'm having a weird problem. Often, not always, when I try and delete one or serveral files with shift-delete nothing happens. It is obvious that the system has registered the command because when I open task manager there is a process, inapplications, called "delete file". I can work around this by draging the file to the recycle bin and then deleting it from there, but that is a nuisance to have to do.

Yes that would also be a work around. But I'm lazy and like to "completely" delete my file at once when I'm sure I want to delete them. Not only this, but it should work and I don't like it when I get issues like this. It makes me wonder if I have other system issues that I haven't noticed or waiting to happen.

In general I like to have a fully functional system, and when I don't i like to find out what might be causing the problem and fix it. The latter is the most important.

Yes, it seems to be for all files. I've tried jpg's, doc's, avi's, tmp's, etc.

No, I don't have it ticked because sometimes I don't wish to delete them completely. As I said sometime the shift-delete works as it should. That's what's weird.

I agree that's odd. Personally I have not had Win7 do this to me, and I am like you.... I use Shift + Del a lot.

I'm also getting this problem... but I have a suspicion it is by design.
If I select only a small amount of files or small file size files I can delete fine via the Keyboard and skip the recycle bin with Shift + delete.

But if I select a large number of files e.g. 500+ *.txt files, or a couple of large files (not sure on the exact size) then the Keyboard Shift + Delete will only send the files to the recycle bin. Implemented I'm sure to safe guard you from deleting Large files or too many multiple files accidentally.

The exact number of files where the behaviour changes seems to change depending on the total number of files selected, and the combined file size of the files to be deleted.

This doesn't happen if you Shift delete with the right mouse button method...
As I have always deleted (When recycle bin is not required) with the keyboard Shift + Delete, it is very annoying to now have to right click to do the same thing.

Does anyone know if there is a registry setting or something to change this behaviour?
