    Corrupted

Hi, When I uninstall Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, my gadgets go corrupt (e.g. I can only see a black box with the clock gadget, I can only see an info icon with the weather gadget, I can't see the calendar even if it is on my desktop before uninstalling KIS 2010) and TuneUp Utilities 2010 also gets corrupt because I can't access the Start Center and I can't open WMP 12 because it's corrupted too. So I have to do a System Restore to restore the corrupt stuff and restore KIS 2010 as well but I want to switch to Avira and I can't switch to Avira because of this. Please help me, hoping for a positive response. Thanks.

First, do yourself a favor and think about installing Microsoft Security Essentials in conjunction with Malwarebytes. They are the suggested software protection, by most of the membership.

But that is not the problem now. Go to the website and see if they have an uninstall tool. Most Antivirus firms supply them, because the Anti Virus is so insidious that it cannot be removed. In lieu, of that try to uninstall with Revno uninstall.

Hope one of these ideas work. Make a fresh System Restore point first, so you can always fall back on it.

KIS doesn't supply Removal Tools. I tried uninstalling with YourUninstaller but it doesn't work. Are there any other ways? Because whenever I do a System Restore, it may restore my corrupt system files but it will surely corrupt KIS 2010.

If this does not work, type karpersky ininstall tool in Google, there are a lot of possible hits.

    Hello, Welcome to SF,

I guess it might have damaged the User profile. You could try to Create a New User Profile and see whether you have the same problem in that profile.

    Hope this helps,

Ok this is litttle worse that I thought. Lets try it this way.

Make a system restore point, with everything working and then uninstall the A/V. If you are still corrupt we will try to fix it. You have nothing to lose because you have the system restore point.

If after the uninstall you are corrupt try this
Type cmd in search, do not hit enter. Right click the cmd and enter run as adminstrator. In cmd type this sfc /scannow. If errors are found run it several times.

If it does not work do not despair there are other remedies.
Once we correct any corruption you may have to uninstall and install the problem programs, but lets wait to see what happens. As I said, if that does not work there are other remedies.

    Good luck

I am successful in making a new user account, but still it won't work. Gadgets, TuneUp Utilities and WMP 12 are still corrupted.

After scanning, it says that it has detected some errors in the system and it will be fixed after the next reboot. After rebooting, the gadgets, WMP 12 and TuneUp Utilities are still corrupt.

Try running the SFC a few times. It fixes only one corrupt file at at time.

After running the SFC, if still not working try uninstalling and then installing the corrupt programs. Use Revno to uninstall.

Ok I'll try to run SFC 10-15 times before rebooting later this afternoon.

    I reinstalled TU2010...still corrupt.
