Making folders to expand when clicked on

    Hi!

I've found the fact that the folders don't automatically expand on navigation pane when they are clicked on disturbs my workflow. How can I make them expand automatically without spending an extra click to do so?

    Thanks!

The quick and dirty answer to this one may be to set your system to accept single click input under options - folder and search options in explorer.

This will also of course save a lot of clicks generally but does I admit take some getting used to.

    Edit

just re-read your post and this is not what you want I think,

all I can suggest is have a look at classic shell as I believe that this may do what you require - the developer is a member here and has added functionality to the application based on member feedback

Open explorer, click on "organise", which is top left of the screen, then click "folder and search options", and the bottom options for "Navigation pane" are "Show all folders", and "Automatically expand to current folder", which is what you're asking for.

Navigation Pane - Automatically expand to current folder

    and

Navigation Pane - Show All Folders

Blargh, I instinctively searched only the "old-skool" menus, not the "new" ones. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Yet it somehow doesn't work. Does it work for you? I've used some registry hacks to remove libraries from the pane, add My Documents to the pane and also to disable the search history. Maybe they managed to break the Explorer somehow?

Edit2: Hm, seems that your suggested option, rather than to expand the specific folder I click on, lands me in the folder tree when I use the favourites. Useful, but not quite the function I wanted.
