    New drop down menu missing

    Hi All

Im running 7 Ultimate 64 bit and have noticed that when I right click to create a new, say text document the option is missing in the menu as is all other options like
create new briefcase etc is also missing.

I can perform the actions on the desktop but fail when trying to do them on my external or :c

Turning off UAC corrects, this is this right?

    is my 7 corrupt?

Any help will be appreciated, I'm a bit of a novice

    Thanks

    Hello Jim,

In addition, the tutorial below can help show you how to restore any missing New context menu items.

New Context Menu - Remove & Restore Default Menu Items

    Hope this helps,

    Jim,

As a test, create a new administrator account to see if it will work ok in it.

If it does then you can copy all the files in the folders in your old account's C:\Users\(user-name) folder into the corresponding folders in new account's C:\Users\(user-name) folder to copy over most of your settings. After everything checks out, you can delete the old account from within the new account.

Hello jimfdowning, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look at the tutorial below to see what it comes up with.

    Jim,

If the SFC /SCANNOW command is unable to fix it for you, then you can do a repair install to do so without losing anything.
