    Hi,

do i just delete the stuff that i found in "windows.old" or is there a proper way to do this? thanks so much

Windows.old does not save programs which can be reinstalled. DVD's are needed for that.

To delete, go to c drive>properties>clean disc (check include system files)

It may be helpful to save it for a week, just in case something you want was not backed up. You can use everything from windows.old, except programs.

So you clean installed - great. I would take a look in the folder, keep what you need and delete the rest. You might need to take ownership of the folder first. Then go through the first 2 guides in my sig, and image 7, just in case something dies/breaks.

If you delete windows.old. That is all that wil be deleted. All programs that you installed with a DVD will be safe. Everything installed will be preserved. But with any computer, or user error, things can go wrong. Make a restore point (system restore) to make sure. With the system restore you can go back to the time before the delete.
