Issue with Windows folder
Hello guys, I'm having some problems with my boss laptop (Windows 7 Professional). When we start an application, the first thing we need to do is to select the database to work with. When we press the OK button, it changes the connection string located in a small Notepad file inside Windows folder of all PC. Most of them run Windows 2000 and XP and it works perfect, but some weeks ago 1 of the bosses got a new laptop with Windows 7. When we try to install the company's software we realized that the connection string didn't change at all. We tryed to change the connection string by typing but we got a error message about not having write permission to do this. Then, we tryed to to run the software as an administrator, but nothing happened. We also tryed to log in as the admin user, but nothing happened either. Then I tryed to make a copy of the file, change it inside the Desktop and then replace the Windows folder one, and it worked. I'm confused because I have write access to replace a file, but I don't have write access to save a file inside Windows folder . I hope u can give me a hand and a possible solution with this guys.
Finally, I would like to say hello cause I'm new at the forums. It seems to be a nice comunity and I'll be very thankfull if you can help me with this problem. Bye
