Need urgent help! "Denied permission to access folders"

    Hello SevenForums users! :)

Yesterday I reformatted my PC, everything went just fine. However, when I'm now trying to access a folder in my (D:) hard drive I get "you have been denied permission to access this folder" I do know how to fix the problem folder and files each, but how can I fix this error for my hole (D:) hard drive? Is there a more simple way to fix this without going through all my files? There's also "unknown" users with numbers that have access to the files, like it would be my old user before reformat. How can I remove them the most simple way?

I also want to know why did this happen? I have reformatted before and didn't encounter this problem, and I can't think of anything that would make this happen.

How can I prevent this from happening again? I reformatted my PC after fixing some of the access to see if it would happen again, and it did.

I also noticed that on some folders there are a lock on the icon, as well as that most of the folders are write protected and I cant remove it!?

I appreciate all help I can get!

    Thanks.

Take ownership of the folder/file/drive you are trying to access...

It did not work, I still get the "you have been denied permission to access this folder"

Edit: I do know how to do it manually to gain access, but as I wrote I would like to know how to make it on the whole hard drive without going through all the files as well as some other things.
I edited my main post with more information.

    Thanks for help.

Right click on the folder, go to properties and then under compatibility, Check Run as admin and double check

There's no "Compatibility" tab on my folders.

    Thanks for answer!

how is your D:\ setup? What are the security settings on the drive and the subfolders of d:? Do you have deny set for anyone? did you remove the 'everyone' group?

there are some free utilities that will fix you right up. do some googling. I'm not sure if "unlocker" will do the trick, but there are some utilities that should help. try this: Take Ownership of File/Folder in Windows 7 & Vista

My drive setup and security is normal I suppose, I haven't done anything that would change its normal state. I did however, noticed that for example my video folder is accessible to my current user and what I have understand my old user (It's a user named S-1-5-21-242736487 etc with a (?) on its icon. How can I make it accessible to "everyone"? Thanks a lot for your answer!

I have been googling all day, but haven't found anything that would give an answer to my questions. I do know how to take ownership of the file but that's not what I'm asking for. However, thanks for your help.
