I'm using built 7048 and downloading built 7057 right now.

Is it worth hunting after the latest built at all ? I mean, what're the differences between them ?
Would you know a source with tweaking tips unique to Windows 7 ?

When I was using Vista, I switched almost everything off what I could to make the OS lighter and more snappy ... if you know what I mean.
Same modifications do work fine in Windows 7 I noticed ... just wondering if you know anymore than these tricks ...

Please check the tweak collection for Vista, called Windows Vista Supercharged.

Hope I don't have to highlight to be careful when tweaking an OS. Every change in the settings has an effect and you MUST know what it does before applying it.
Example: I have decided for myself to switch off indexing to calm the HDD down from grinding.
If you do that, every search performed will be significant slower.
Just for you to be careful with customizing your OS.

There are few visual changes, the main changes will be with performance and stability. I'm running 7068 x64 and have been since it was released. It is really really stable and has better responsiveness than previous builds. The only issue I have at the moment is when I pull the usb out on my 360 controller I get bsod, but reading another thread it does not seem to be just me because a couple more were reporting the same thing. MAS are more than likely aware of it and we will probably see a fix in future builds. Apart from that ( which I counter by not pulling the usb on my controller) it has given me no problems at all and is by far the most stable and responsive.

And as for turning things off do you mean in services, because if you are then yes you can do exactly the same with win 7. I also turn services off eg search, print spooler, off line files etc etc so there is less resources running in the background that you do not require.
