I don't believe you'll get any updates for the 'build' you're using.

Hello Kintomaniac, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but you will not get any Windows Updates for the next build.

The only updates I have seen so far in any build have only been for Windows Defender, drivers, and for any Microsoft programs.

    So far in 7068:

Same again - I only get updates for Windows defender definitions and other installed software such as Office 2007.

The RC might be different however -- depends on whether Microsoft views the RC as a "Legitimate" update vehicle for the Retail W7 or as an "extended Beta".

It IMO does seem rather nonsensical to allow updates (other than security patches) etc to Office 2007 / other products if Microsoft expect you to install the whole kybosh again from scratch when the Retail version is released.

I would imagine that most people will probably install again from scratch when W7 final appears - so this could be a mute point in any case.

If update from the RC IS permitted then presumably Microsoft would still need people to have their initial VISTA / WINDOWX XP install disks available in order to qualify for "Upgrade Pricing".

I doubt whether their Licensing division is that short "in the upstairs dept" that they would allow people to qualify for an Upgrade edition of W7 from a FREE downloadable version of the OS such as the Beta or RC.

Unless you are involved in serious testing as a supplier etc it seems to me that apart from security patches it's a waste of time installing any possible updates since these might not even be relevant when the Final version appears -- and probably whist we are all enjoying the "Ultimate" version of W7 only a minority of people will probably purchase the Retail version of Ultimate. The Pro or Home Premium editions will be the choice of the vast majority when the time comes.

    Cheers

7057 wasn't even an officially released build like the Release Candidate (7100).

The only updates that might show up would be things like graphics card drivers or for other products like Office.

The OS itself wouldn't receive any updates.

The latest OS "update" would be to download the RC separately.

yep, same thing happened to me. no matter how much I loved and still love 7229 (best leaked build, IMO) I had to let it go and install RC (7100) for this same issue. I'd say go with RC.
