Windows Vista SP2
Upgrading from Vista (32) to 7 (64)

I'm new to the forums and I have some questions regarding upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

1. I already have Windows 7 32-bit BETA installed as a dual boot with Vista, prior to installing Windows 7 64-bit I'd like to remove 7 (32), does anyone know how?

2. My processor is an Intel T8300 and I know that it's 64-bit so I know that 7 64-bit will work, but if I only purchase an upgrade version of 7 then I'll require a full/clean install since I'm jumping from 32 to 64... how do I upgrade if I'm going to be doing a clean install? Windows Vista came on my laptop and I don't have a recovery CD (that's handled by a hidden recovery partition on the HDD set up by Samsung) --- is an upgrade from 32 Vista to 7 64 possible? Will I need to buy the full version of 7 64?

3. I assume that all my 32-bit software will work with 7 64-bit, but that I'll get no real performance increase unless I'm using 64-bit software. This is correct, right?

4. I'll finally be able to use my currently "idle" 4th GB of RAM, right??? Perhaps even get a slight performance boost that way!?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

You don`t have to remove W7 32 bit , just install W7 64 bit on that partition. Just make sure you delete it first so it doesn`t store your W7 32 bit in the windows old folder (on the new W7 install). Unless you want it to. Just make sure you have gotten all the documents and info you want off the W7 partion before you delete it.

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that came with Vista. I bought an upgrade to Windows 7 pro, installed it and it worked - mostly. There are a few things that seem to behave differently from my desktop machine that was purchased with Win 7 pro. As time went on, things just got worse - IE 8 barely...

I am trying to upgrade from vista ultimate to 7 ultimate, I don't want to format, the only issue I am having upon upgrading is that there is not enough disc space on my drive to continue the upgrade. What is the best way to do this, I only have 3gig left.

I have purchased the upgrade designed for Windows Vista to move my daughter's computer to Windows 7. It has Vista Home Premium SP2 on it now. It has a lot of junk, and all she wants is the pics and videos, which I've backed up. Would it be better to make a clean re-install of Vista with the...

If someone upgrades from Vista to W7, do the programs from Vista remain intact? Or must they all be reinstalled after the upgrade?
