Why do people like Windows 7 so much?
Outside of performance improvements and other "behind the scenes" things over Vista, why does it seem like more and more people are really getting into Windows 7?

I tried it for a few weeks, I really wanted to like it. I enjoy the idea of incorporating something like a dock into the taskbar, however it seems like a mess when it involves new, un-pinned programs constantly being opened and closed. Especially if you're like me and enjoy pinning more than 5 or 6 applications to it for easy access. Whoever thought it was a good idea to mix a dock, the start menu button, the notification icons, the clock and have new programs open and close in the same taskbar needs a kick in the bottom... that or they expect everyone to have a super widescreen (not just widescreen like I have, super widescreen) monitor.
And I know I can fix it and make it look more normal, but Microsoft also decided it was a good idea to remove a feature from XP and Vista that I enjoyed very much. You can see a picture of it here:

Notice the bar at the top? It's pretty much a dock built right into Vista. It stays on top so any program that maximizes, you can still see it and use it (much like the normal taskbar at the bottom of the desktop). I love it. My desktop is clean of shortcuts because they're all in the bar at the top, it's very organized and everything on there is less than a click away. Thank god they got rid of it in 7, right?

Those are my biggest complaints I guess, Windows 7 just seems so aesthetically displeasing... why is it so revered compared to Vista? Is there any hints or tips that can make someone like me really appreciate Windows 7?
I like to have the latest and greatest stuff, so staying on Vista and XP as the world moves to Windows 7 doesn't thrill me. Programs will continue to update to support Windows 7, and new programs will be built around Windows 7 (considering its market success). So I don't really want to get left behind... but what can I do? lol
Thoughts? Comments? Why do you like the Windows 7 taskbar? Do you simply tolerate it for the other benefits the OS offers? Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks guys!
