copy and move are both copy?

In the Windows7 Explorer, when I move a file it makes a copy with - Copy.jpg (or whatever extension) appended to the filename. How can I make Move actually move from the source directory and overwrite the file in the target directory like you would expect it to?

    To further explain:
    • left click and drag to select files at source directory
    • right click and drag selected files to destination directory
    • let go of right click and menu presented offers choice of move or copy
    • selecting move makes copies of files instead of overwriting
ie: if file.jpg exists in destination, the new file.jpg would be copied as file-Copy.jpg instead of overwriting original.

Works fine when I tried it on x64 build 7068, what build are you using?

What build are you using as i've just tried with build 7068 x86 & the correct dialog asking whether to 'Copy & Replace' or 'Copy & keep original' appears. After selecting 'Copy & Replace' it then moves as expected.

This could be an undetected bug with a lower build.

Update: Good day Mr GRiM I see you've beat me to it LOL

I'm build 7000 x64 (I'll add system specs to the bottom of this post)

When I drag a file to the destination directory, the right click menu only offers copy here/move here.
    Here's a screencap -

I've never seen this 'Copy & Replace' or 'Copy & keep original'

How do I go about upgrading to 7068 or whatever is most current?

I had the same problem with 7068 x64 so I just cut the file/folder and paste it to achieve the move function. THEN I discovered this registry change.

    (A zipfile available here:
Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder

Diy version here: To add 'Move to Folder ..'
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}]
    ____________________________________________
Cut and paste the stuff between the lines into notepad then Save as Move.txt. Close Notepad. Rename as Move.reg. Right click on Move.reg and select Merge.

You should now have Move To Folder .. when you Right Click on a selected object.

Same process to add 'Copy to Folder ..'

This is what should appear when the file already exists.
There are many torrents available of 7068 x64 but it might be worth waiting for the next release.

    I use 7000 x64 and I don't have this probleme

When I select "move To" It work fine and move the files.
If files allready exists in destination directory I have the windows with the choise of overwrite or rename.

No need for "copy and replace" and "copy & keep original" in contexte menu
