Open Windows Disappear for 5 Seconds

Three times in the last two days I have seen this happen: I have Windows Live Mail, Winamp, a website, or something else open and running. All of a sudden, the windows that are open disappear and all I see is an outline of them against my normal desktop. The screen is not black, but is my normal desktop. Within 5 seconds or less, the open apps reappear and are still running. Any ideas regarding the cause, and how to prevent this?

    Welcome,

Guess what, you do not have a problem, you paid for that feature.

If you put your pointer on the bottom right of your screen, near the clock, there is a little transparent box, this enables you to see your desktop.

I like the feature, it lets me see my gadgets, while I surf. If you do not like it, right click on the box and untick the box, show desktop.

Ha, that may well have been the cause of the problem, thanks! That is a relief. I do Internet radio broadcasting and was afraid something was going to be shutting down while I was on-air. Now I know I just have to move the pointer!

You are not the only one with this problem, I have answered 4, myself. I think that it is strange that a feature that was paid for causes so many headaches. If not for this Forum, it would probably cost 100 bucks to fix it and the technician would just turn it off.

In any event, I hope that you like Windows 7, I do, and the best of luck.

Thanks again, Rich. Sorry, but at this time I do not share your enthusiasm for Windows 7. The Windows Live Mail is the buggiest program I have ever used. I have posted numerous problems in dealing with it. An even larger concern for me is one I just posted today in the Sound section of the forum. I need the old Windows XP sound icon attributes! Windows 7 does not provide the Wav and Mic options I need for Internet radio broadcasting. If you know anything about that part of Windows 7, please see my post there and see if there is an answer. Thanks!

I really am sorry that you are experiencing problems with Windows 7. When working properly it is a great OS. That being said, in answer to your question,I will look at your other post and if I have further suggestions, I will post.

As for Live Mail... get a true email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

For your sound issue, you cant accomplish this through the control panel - sound applet?

Oh, and that hiding windows feature is known as Aero Peek... Windows 7 features - Aero Peek - Microsoft Windows

Windows Live Mail is not a part of Windows 7. There is no mail program included with Windows 7.
