hmm it appears no dump files are created, and nothing is appearing in the event viewer....so wierd....

I'm pretty sure the default settings are to create a minidump and reboot. They can be changed, sheck here:

Control Panel\System and Security\System then "Advanced System Settings" then "Startup and Revovery" "Settings". You can set the restart action, the memory dump file and location (and it'll show you where to look for some already there).

Sometimes a "kernel panic" can be triggered by a piece of hardware so fast that it can't do the dump even when set though...

yeah i dont think any dumps are being generated -- i dont think any events are being generated for this either -- there are some events around not shutting down correctly, and around dhcp leases; nothing that indicates a crash...

Ive tried going back to the default drivers and still no luck....

i broke down and reinstalled windows. still no luck. DANGIT. I really need this to work or i go back to ubuntu...

All Linux code must be deleted.

Try a full clean & full format.

1) Boot DVD.
2) Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)

Type in command line
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win 7 HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT
