Have you tried an install letting Windows install only its drivers to see how that goes?
ill try that. is there any way other than the event viewer to recover the bsod message?
Check out this page for informtion on the default mini-dump file that is created and tools to analyse it.

How to read the small memory dump files that Windows creates for debugging

I'm pretty sure the default settings are to create a minidump and reboot. They can be changed, sheck here:

Control Panel\System and Security\System then "Advanced System Settings" then "Startup and Revovery" "Settings". You can set the restart action, the memory dump file and location (and it'll show you where to look for some already there).

Sometimes a "kernel panic" can be triggered by a piece of hardware so fast that it can't do the dump even when set though...

yeah i dont think any dumps are being generated -- i dont think any events are being generated for this either -- there are some events around not shutting down correctly, and around dhcp leases; nothing that indicates a crash...

Ive tried going back to the default drivers and still no luck....

All Linux code must be deleted.

Try a full clean & full format.

    1) Boot DVD.
    2) Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)

    Type in command line
    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win 7 HD)
    CLEAN ALL
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    SELECT PARTITION 1
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT=NTFS
    ASSIGN
    EXIT
    EXIT
